How long does a hot water tank last?

A traditional storage tank lasts 8–12 years; a tankless unit usually goes 15–20 with regular service. Past the 10-year mark, or once you see rust at the connections or any sign of leaking, it's time to plan a replacement before it fails on you.

Tank or tankless — which should I pick?

Tank units are cheaper to buy and quicker to install. Tankless costs more up front, but you get unlimited hot water, lower monthly bills, and a longer service life. We talk through household size, peak demand, and budget before recommending one.

What does installation cost?

A standard tank swap is typically $1,500–$3,000. Tankless installs run $3,500–$6,000+ depending on capacity, brand, and whether the gas line or venting needs upgrading. Quotes are free and itemized.

Why is my hot water rusty?

Discoloured hot water (with clean cold water) almost always means corrosion inside the tank, usually from a worn-out anode rod. Catching it early can mean a rod replacement instead of a full leak and a flooded utility room — book an inspection sooner rather than later.

Can I put a tankless unit in an older home?

Yes. Older homes sometimes need a gas-line upsize or an electrical tweak to support tankless, but it's a routine part of the install. We assess what's needed and handle the upgrades so the final setup is safe and code-compliant.

Air Force Heating did a great job of installing a heater in my garage. They were very professional and friendly throughout the installation. The fact they also included trenching for a gas line from my house to the garage as part of their service was great, since I didn't have to find a separate contractor for that.

We would like thank Ivan and his team for their help in installing the new HVAC system at our place. We reached out to multiple service providers and were lost on all the jargons. Luckily found Air Force Heating. Ivan and his team were patient enough to understand our concerns and offered exactly what we were looking for. On the day of installation, the team arrived on time and made preparations before the work can begin. As promised, the work was completed within time and Ivan further explained in detail the functions and usage. Thank You Ivan for all you help in this project.

Installers were efficient, clean and on time. No surprises! Only one little surprise when they found our AC (already installed) was leaking. We would of never known if it wasn't for them. They took the time to repair it right away. Much appreciated!
