Quite happy to have those guys to install a gas line and a garage heater. Everything was done with excellent craftsmanship, on time and as agreed. Price was reasonable as well. Definetely will consider and recommend Air Force for future projects.

A level above the rest! Ivan and his crew did a fantastic job moving our A/C unit and installing a heating system in our garage. They were completely on time, on budget, and very reasonably priced. What really stood out was the great respect they showed for our home and yard. They used drop cloths inside and tarps outside, taking extra care to minimize the mess and clean up after themselves completely. We’ve used other Plumbing & HVAC contractors in the past who were just okay, but Air Force's service quality was a level above all of them. Highly recommend!

Air Force Heating did an excellent job removing our old hot water tank and installing a new Navien tankless water heater at a very competitive price !! The technicians were professional, knowledgeable, and completed the installation efficiently. They took the time to answer my questions, cleaned up after the job, and made sure everything was working properly before leaving. Very happy with the quality of work and the improved hot water system. I would definitely recommend Air Force Heating to anyone considering a tankless water heater upgrade.

The process was top notch through the whole process: 1) They answered the request for a quote quickly (I'm surprised when other companies called back 3-4 days later). They came the next day at the agreed upon time. 2) The quote was reasonable and about $50 less than others (tight market). 3) The installation was scheduled quickly, and done well the following week. 4) It appears as if the work was done professionally with an attention to detail. It's still too cold to see how everything works, but will update the review as needed. 4) Communication was prompt and helpful. I would recommend Ivan and Air Force Heating in the future.

    Calgary Garage Heater Sizing Guide

Right-sizing matters more than brand. An undersized heater never catches up on a cold morning; an oversized one short-cycles and wastes gas. Use this as a starting point — we confirm the exact BTU on site.

    • Single garage (350–450 sq ft): 30,000–45,000 BTU
    • Standard double garage (450–600 sq ft): 45,000–60,000 BTU
    • Triple garage or 9 ft ceilings (700–900 sq ft): 60,000–75,000 BTU
    • Heated workshop (900–1,200 sq ft): 75,000–100,000 BTU
    • Insulated shop (1,500+ sq ft): 100,000–150,000 BTU
    • Uninsulated detached garage: add ~25% to recommended BTU
    • Tall ceiling (12 ft+): add ~15% to recommended BTU
    • Concrete-floor cold-soak: add a programmable setback thermostat

How a Permitted Garage Heater Install Works

A garage heater is a gas appliance — installation has to be done right or the manufacturer warranty (and your home insurance) is void. Here's the proper sequence.

    Heat-Load Sizing

We measure square footage, ceiling height, and insulation, then run a Manual J style calculation so the unit isn't oversized or undersized for your space.

    Gas, Vent & Electrical

Our licensed Alberta gas fitters run new lines, set venting clearances, and connect the thermostat — pulling permits where the city requires them.

    Commissioning & Walkthrough

We test combustion, set the thermostat to your usage pattern, and walk you through filter changes, seasonal shut-down, and warranty registration.
