About Chaparral
Chaparral is a well-established SE Calgary lake community developed by Cardel Homes, nestled along the western edge of the Bow River valley. The neighbourhood is anchored by Chaparral Lake, a beautiful private lake exclusively for residents, and the Chaparral Community Association's Beach Club. With development beginning in the late 1990s, Chaparral has matured into a family-oriented community with tree-lined streets, excellent schools, and a strong neighbourhood identity. The Chaparral Valley area features homes with walkout basements overlooking the natural ravine, while the community's location near 194th Avenue SE provides easy access to Stoney Trail and south Calgary amenities.
Local HVAC Considerations
Chaparral is one of SE Calgary's most mature communities, with many homes built between 1997 and 2008. This means the majority of original furnaces are 17–28 years old — well past their 15–20 year expected lifespan. We handle more furnace replacements in Chaparral than almost any other SE community. Many homes still have the original mid-efficiency (80% AFUE) furnaces that are significantly more expensive to operate than modern high-efficiency models. The valley homes along Chaparral Valley Drive also face unique airflow challenges due to their walkout basement configurations and the ravine's microclimate.
